Today one of the most highly used applications in the world, the messages app that is exclusive to Apple users offers a wide array of different services and third-party app integrations. In this, SMS services and iMessage are most commonly used integrations that a majority of the world relies on for day to day instant messaging.
However, most people are unaware of the fact that the Messages application in Apple also supports other integrations such as Google Hangouts, Jabber, AOL, AIM, etc. By using these features, users can avoid having to install other browser plugins and third party apps just to use these services.
Steps to use Google Hangouts in the Messages app
It is very simple to use the Hangouts app from Google in the messages in Mac. All you have to do is –
- Pull down the Messages icon and click on “Add Account”. You will then be allowed to choose from multiple options, among which Google account also exists.
- On selecting Google accounts, you will be redirected to the sign in page with the native authentication features of Google.
And that’s it! It is as simple as that. Google Hangouts will now be added to your messages app.
- You can also add it from the home screen by clicking on the Menu icon and then navigating to System Preferences.
- Under system preferences, you can add a Google account under the section Internet Accounts and then enable it for Messages.
Once done, you can carry on using Google Hangouts in the Mac Messages Application.
